Emergency Child Care:
Region of Waterloo Emergency Child Care Supports
The Region of Waterloo is planning a 24/7 temporary emergency child care program for parents who provide critical services in our community. The program will offer free child care for health care and other frontline workers who have exhausted all other care options for their children.

If any community member or professional has concerns about the safety and/or well-being of a
child or youth under 18, please contact a child protection worker at 519-576-0540. The office in Cambridge and the Family Centre are closed to the public, but visitors can come to the office at 200 Ardelt, Kitchener, where they will be screened before entering the building.
Legal Aid Ontario (LAO) Domestic Violence Services
During the COVID-19 crisis, LAO has waived all legal and financial eligibility for domestic violence survivors. Select the link above for more information. If you have experienced domestic violence and need help with a family law matter, please call LAO’s Contact Centre immediately: 1-800-668-8258.
Wilmot-Wellesley Family Violence Prevention Program
The Family Violence Prevention Program continues to operate during the pandemic crisis. We offer counselling support, safety planning, and referrals. Services are free and confidential and can be accessed by phone and video conferencing.
Women’s Crisis Services
Women’s Crisis Services operates two shelters (locations below) for abused women and their children. Both are open to new residents, and offer programs for children and youth, counselling for women, and support finding housing and other basic needs. Their Outreach workers continue to support those in the community who do not need shelter or have not chosen shelter.
