#KidsTakeOver 2021!

It’s that time of year again, #KidsTakeOver!!  This opportunity for young people to take over in spaces and roles traditionally reserved for adults helps foster belonging and the idea that children and young people feel valued, heard and included.

November 20th is National Child Day and just like in previous years, we’d like to challenge YOU to participate in #KidsTakeOver.  This initiative, started by UNICEF Canada helps amplify the message of National Child Day and gives children and youth all over the world a voice.

Over the last few years, young people in Waterloo Region have “taken over” in a variety of roles – such as, Waterloo Mayor, Principal, and Chief of Police, as well as in a variety of spaces – such as being interviewed on 570 NEWS with Mike Farwell, participating in social media takeovers, and taking over programming at the Waterloo Public Library. Thank you to all the partners who have helped make these opportunities possible – young people have shared their excitement and appreciation.
