Introducing the Healthy Kids Community Toolkit and Superhero’s Guide to Health video!

The Healthy Kids Community Challenge (the Challenge) was a community-led initiative funded by the province of Ontario between 2015 and 2018. HKCC was a huge success and reached over 70,000 local children, parents/caregivers, educators, and other community members with more than 90 initiatives.

The Challenge created a digital toolkit containing evidence-informed resources for healthy eating, physical activity, and healthy behaviours along with a “Superhero’s Guide to Health”, an educational video designed for children in Grades 2 – 4.

The toolkit is intended to be used by parents/caregivers, educators, camp leaders, recreation professionals, and any other individuals working with children and families.

Over the past four years, the Healthy Kids Community Challenge (HKCC) has benefited from partnering with Children and Youth Planning Table (CYPT) to engage with stakeholders working with children and their parents/caregivers to launch initiatives and share opportunities and resources that aim to improve the health and wellbeing of our children and youth.

The HKCC is grateful to continue this partnership with the CYPT by housing the HKCC resources and messaging on the CYPT website. As a large collective of passionate organizations and individuals serving children, youth, and families in Waterloo Region, we hope that the CYPT audience will find value in the HKCC resources and messaging as they continue their great work.
