Children and Family Service Pandemic Working Group

The Region of Waterloo, area municipalities and community partners are working together and have established working groups to ensure vulnerable people affected by COVID-19 get the supports they need. The Children and Family Service Pandemic Working Group has been in operation since the beginning of April and has a focus on:
  • Emergency Child Care in Waterloo Region
  • Planning for the possibility of children being isolated from their families due to COVID-19
  • Other community supports that will emerge or be required as a result of COVID-19

Co-Chaired by Karen Spencer (Family and Children’s Services) and Barb Cardow (Region of Waterloo, Children’s Services), this working group includes many CYPT partners and is a complement to the work that has been done over the years to ensure a nimble, responsive, and connected system of services and supports for children, youth and families in Waterloo Region. Shannon McIntyre (Social Planning Associate with CYPT) has been redeployed to support the efforts of this working group.
